Nicole Kidman, Hugh Grant, Donald Sutherland to Lead ?The Undoing?
Big Little Lies creator David E. Kelley is behind the new psychological thriller.
Nicole Kidman will reunite with Big Little Lies creator David E. Kelley for The Undoing, a limited series based on the book You Should Have Known by Jean Hanff Korelitz. Joining Kidman is Hugh Grant (A Very English Scandal, Four Weddings and a Funeral) and Donald Sutherland (The Hunger Games, Pride & Prejudice).
The story focuses on a successful therapist, Grace Sachs (Kidman). On the brink of publishing her first book, Grace has a devoted husband, Jonathan (Grant), and young son who attends an elite private school in New York City. Weeks before her book is published, a chasm opens in her life: a violent death, a missing spouse, and, in the place of a man Grace thought she knew, only a chain of terrible revelations. Left behind in the wake of a spreading and very public disaster, and horrified by the ways in which she has failed to heed her own advice, Grace must dismantle one life and create another for her child and herself.
?David has created another propulsive series with a fascinating, complicated female role at its center,? said Kidman.
As Jonathan Sachs, Grant will play an acclaimed pediatric oncologist, devoted husband to Grace and doting father, whose past undergoes scrutiny when he suddenly disappears.
Donald Sutherland will play Grace?s father Franklin Renner: a retired financier and loving grandfather, tasked with protecting his family when turbulent revelations come to light.
Kelley will write and executive produce along with Kidman and Per Saari through Blossom Films and Bruna Papandrea through Made Up Stories. A search for a director is underway.
