Kendall, Roman, Gerri and Frank believe they’ve tallied enough board votes against Logan for the upcoming meeting. While attempting to secure the allegiance of one of the board members, Kendall’s helicopter is grounded. He gets stuck in massive traffic, has spotty cell phone service, and is physically unable to get to the meeting on time. The assembled group, including Logan, is forced to proceed without him. Kendall’s absence derails the confidence of a few of the recently acquired swing voters, including Lawrence, the CEO of Vaulter. Out of fraternal loyalty, Ewan votes in favor of keeping Logan in place, a surprise to Logan given their hostile relationship.
Roman, terrified of disappointing his dad, backtracks from the plan and votes against Logan’s removal. Roman’s deciding vote clinches a win for Logan, who immediately fires Kendall, Frank and the board members that betrayed him.
Shiv visits Washington D.C. to meet with Nate, a political consultant and former lover, hoping to sway him to join Joyce’s campaign. Nate turns her request down and asks her to consider partnering with him to help his candidate, the left-wing populist Gil Eavis. Nate also asks Shiv to have sex with him while she’s in town, even though they’re both engaged to other people.
Tom takes Greg on an extravagant, expensive and alcohol-fueled night out to give him a taste of what it’s like to be extremely wealthy. After a chaste night with Nate, Shiv returns to New York to discover that her brothers’ treasonous bid to remove Logan from the company has failed, and that Kendall has been ousted.
