Groundbreaking International Series Coming to HBO U.S.

Chief executive Richard Plepler has announced that HBO’s U.S. service will be making some of the most acclaimed original series from Europe, Latin America and Asia available to its U.S. customers. Beginning in December, two series from each of the regions will arrive on the U.S. streaming services HBO GO and HBO NOW as well as HBO On Demand.

“Working with talented local writers, directors and producers, our international networks are creating programming that lives up to the high quality storytelling that is expected of the HBO brand,” Plepler said. “This programming regularly outperforms even Game of Thrones’ record audience numbers in their respective markets.”

The selected content is produced and aired by HBO international networks in local languages. The programming has been featured at major international film festivals including the Toronto International Film Festival and the Karlovy Vary Film Festival, and will be available on HBO U.S. with full subtitles.

The series to be made available are the Czech Republic miniseries Wasteland and the Polish series Pakt from HBO Europe; the Taiwanese series The Teenage Psychic and the Indonesian/Thai series Halfworlds from HBO Asia. Also streaming are El Hipnotizador and the new Brazilian drama La Vida Secreta De Las Perejas from HBO Latin America.
