Best known for NewsRadio, HBO's The Corner and CSI: Miami, New York native Khandi Alexander began her career as a dancer on Broadway. She choreographed Whitney Houston's World Tours as well as music videos for David Bowie and others, while also working closely with Kenny Ortega. Ms. Alexander had an iconic turn in the feature film CB4.

Her performance as LaDonna Batiste-Williams in HBO's Treme (for which she was nominated for three NAACP Image Awards), gave her the utmost critical acclaim. She won the Image Award for her performance in CSI: Miami, and the Peabody Award for her portrayal of Fran Boyd in The Corner. Her performances in The Corner and NewsRadio also garnered her Image Award nominations.

Her theatre credits include Velma Kelly in Chicago, as well as leading roles in Bones and The Horrible and Tragic Life of the Singing Nun. She won an NAACP Image Award for her portrayal of Mama Pope in ABC's Scandal.
