WarnerMedia Gives Back on Volunteer Day

Employees at WarnerMedia’s New York City headquarters came together to make a difference.

On November 6, WarnerMedia employees in New York gathered for a day of giving back. More than a thousand participants from across the company came together for the first official WarnerMedia Volunteer Day, taking part in 23 volunteer projects both at the Hudson Yards offices and at nonprofit sites around the city. What we did:
Decorated hundreds of bags for children in Free Arts programs.
Their mission: Free Arts NYC empowers youth through art and mentoring programs to develop creativity, confidence and the skills they need to succeed.
How to get involved: Volunteer at a Free Arts Day, where elementary-aged children are paired with mentors for an afternoon of art-making.


What we did:
Wrote 583 cards for troops and first responders in partnership with Operation Gratitude.
Their mission: Too often the sacrifices made by veterans, deployed troops, first responders, and wounded service members go unrecognized. Operation Gratitude works to create a bond between Americans and the military through volunteer service projects such as sending individually addressed care packages and writing letters.
How to get involved: Volunteer to help fill, package and ship care packages to those who serve.


What we did:
Cared for 50+ dogs and cats in need of homes for Best Friends Animal Society and the Humane Society of New York.
Their mission: Best Friends Animal Society seeks to help end the killing in America’s animal shelters through building community programs and partnerships. The Humane Society of New York cares for injured, ill and homeless animals.

What we did:
Stuffed and decorated 240 duffel bags for kids in foster care with Together We Rise.
Their mission: The organization focuses on improving the lives of children in foster care by working with individuals, companies and community partners to bring resources to foster youth and educate volunteers on issues surrounding the foster care system.
How to get involved: There are many different ways to get involved with Together We Rise, such as volunteering, donating or organizing a fundraiser in your own community.


What we did:
Painted 10 murals for hospitals with the Foundation for Hospital Art.
Their mission: Foundation for Hospital Art strives to provide comfort and hope to patients in hospitals by providing artwork.

What we did:
Planted dozens of daffodils along the Hudson River with Hudson River Park Friends.
Their mission: The nonprofit is dedicated to the completion, care and enhancement of the Hudson River Park.

What we did:
Helped 10 homeless teens prep for job interviews with Covenant House.
Their mission: Covenant House offers housing and support services to homeless, runaway and trafficked youth.
How to get involved: Learn about ways to give and check out the Sleep Out Movement, which raises funds and awareness for homeless young people every year.


What we did:
Prepared, served, and delivered over 3,000+ meals with God’s Love We Deliver and Citymeals on Wheels.
Their mission: God’s Love We Deliver has set out to provide free meals to people living with HIV/AIDS, cancer and other serious illnesses who are unable to prepare food for themselves. Citymeals on Wheels provides daily meals and companionship to the homebound elderly.

What we did:
Completed 1,500 clean birthing kits for women and newborns with Medshare.
Their mission: The humanitarian aid organization helps improve quality of life for communities in need — and drive environmental sustainability — by sourcing and delivering surplus medical supplies and equipment around the world.
