Located in the heart of Greenwich Village, The Marshall Chess Club is the oldest chess club in the United States and home to almost 400 players of all strengths and ages (from 7 to 90), including 41 Grandmasters and several Woman Grandmasters. As part of its mission to make chess available to the public, the MCC runs the chess concession in Bryant Park at the 42nd Street Public Library.
Since 1986, Chess-in-the-Schools has taught, inspired, and empowered more than 400,000 students in Title I New York City public schools. Through a variety of programs, the group uses chess as an educational tool to promote learning and to help young people develop skills in critical thinking and problem solving.
