He's an accomplished trumpeter, but music isn't Kermit Ruffins' only talent - he's crazy about food too. (Hence, his band's name: the Barbecue Swingers) But of his two passions, food came first -- Ruffins didn't pick up the trumpet until he was in middle school. He remembers being a little kid and getting up early to go on fishing trips, picking up cooking skills along the way. "The truth about music and food," he says, "you're always learning. You never finish."
