DVD Enhanced Content Includes Audio Commentaries From Producer Karen Thorson and Actors Michael K. Williams and Dominic West
This January, an all-new suspense-filled season of the critically acclaimed drama series that "demands repeat viewing" (New York Post) arrives on DVD with the release of The Wire: The Complete Second Season. Chronicling the steady decline of America's working class, focusing on Baltimore's waterfront and its unions, the second season of THE WIRE was hailed as "a rare series that demands your full attention and then rewards it" (Newark Star-Ledger) and "more honestly gritty than any series on TV" (Newsday). The four-disc DVD set, in stores January 25th, features 12 action-packed, hour-long episodes and commentaries with the cast and crew.
THE WIRE tells the story of a single sprawling police investigation in Baltimore from the point of view of both the police and their targets. While the debut season explored the urban drug war in America, the second season follows corruption and the economically depressed working class along Baltimore's waterfront. Actors joining as regulars in the second season include Chris Bauer, Paul Ben-Victor, James Ransone, Amy Ryan and Pablo Schreiber. Actors returning from the first season include Dominic West, Sonja Sohn, Lance Reddick, Wendell Pierce, Wood Harris, Idris Elba, Deirdre Lovejoy, Clarke Peters, Domenick Lombardozzi, Seth Giliam, Jim True-Frost, Michael K. Williams, John Doman, Frankie R. Faison, Larry Gilliard, Jr., Andre Royo, JD Williams and Hassan Johnson.
Critical Acclaim
Winner of a Peabody Award in 2004, THE WIRE has been called "astounding" (USA Today) and "brilliant" (The Cleveland Plain Dealer). "Intriguing...strong acting, fine writing, intensity, grit and enough cultural resonance to make your ears ring" (The Baltimore Sun) THE WIRE is "engrossing and unpredictable. The game being played in THE WIRE is a deadly and fascinating one, instantly making the summer season more interesting" (TV Guide). The first season DVD release also received critical praise with, "certainly it's a series best served on DVD" (LA Daily News) and "probably the closest thing to a literary novel...that television's every produced...pick up the DVDs" (Austin American Statesman).
Additional DVD Content
The Wire: The Complete Second Season on DVD features exclusive audio commentaries delivered by actors Michael K. Williams and Dominic West (Episode 6) and Producer Karen Thorson and film editor Thom Zimny (Episode 12).

Program Information
Created by David Simon (HBO's triple Emmy® Award-winning miniseries The Corner), THE WIRE is one of the most unvarnished, uncompromising and realistic police dramas ever to air on television. The series returns for its second season with an all-new case, told through 12-episodes that focus on the vagaries of crime and law enforcement in Baltimore, MD. As in the first season, the storylines in The Wire: The Complete Second Season are told from the points of view of both the police and their targets, capturing a universe of subterfuge and surveillance, where easy distinctions between good and evil, and crime and punishment, are challenged at every turn.
