George Pelecanos is the author of twelve critically acclaimed novels set in and around Washington, D.C. He is a three-time recipient of the International Crime Novel of the Year
Award and two-time winner of The Los Angeles Times Book Award. His journalism and short fiction works have appeared in GQ, Esquire, The New York Times, The Washington Post, Uncut, Mojo, and numerous other publications. His latest novel, "Hard Revolution", was a New York Times bestseller. Esquire magazine has called him "the poet laureate of the D.C. crime world."
Pelecanos worked as a bartender, shoe salesman, dishwasher, and laborer before writing his first novel. He is the producer of several independent films and the U.S. distributor of the John Woo classic, THE KILLER. He worked extensively as a screenwriter before joining the writing and production team of THE WIRE. His novel "Right as Rain," is currently in development with director Curtis Hanson and Warner Brothers. His thirteenth novel, "Drama City," will be published by Little, Brown in 2005.
