Wee-Bey's enduring fidelity and fearless disposition makes him a consummate soldier. Brawny and brutal, Barksdale's lieutenant leads by example: he exacts discipline on the ranks and murders without conscious. Even Omar met this match in Wee-Bey who survived an ambush when Stinkum' didn't and repelled another against Avon Barksdale. Wee-Bey went at the king and did not miss. When Bunk and Freamon finally corner him, Wee-Bey avoids the death penalty through cooperation. And for a pit beef sandwich with extra horseradish, he claims bodies on behalf of the crew exonerating Bird and others. By his self-sacrifice, he ensures continued financial support for his family and his beloved fishes. And from prison, he is able to make a tough decision to give up his son Namond to Bunny Colvin's care, in order to save him from a life in the drug trade -- which Namond would certainly not survive.
