My father joined the Marines shortly after Pearl Harbor and fought in Gaudalcanal and Peleliu. He was a machine gunner, but spoke very little of the war. We now know why he hated rice! He was very proud to be a Marine. My family and I would love to contact someone who knew Dad. Thank you HBO for this wonderful series!
