Synopsis
Katie's mother calls to tell her the kids want to spend the night, so Katie and Dave end up with the house to themselves. Katie takes a bath and Dave studies his TiVo manual. But, as their relationship decompresses a bit without the pressures of sex and kids, they notice each other a bit more sexually: Dave admires Katie in the bathtub; she compliments him as he gets in the shower. When they go to a Little League coaches' dinner together, they eyeball the other couples, wondering aloud how many of them are still having sex. "Not many," Dave estimates. Later, Katie admits to Dave that she used to fake orgasms, though she assures him it's not his fault. After having a day or so to mull it over, he tells her "You were right ... what you said in therapy. I just let it go, and I shouldn't have." Katie replies, "We both let a lot go."
When Carolyn, complaining of PMS, meets Palek for dinner he tells her that he's found a buyer for the house. Nate's friend Sean is interested, but he needs to close on the house in just 20 days. Carolyn doesn't want to move that quickly and feels like this is yet another important decision Palek has made without her but she goes along and they eventually find a suitable, but small, temporary apartment. While they pack up their house, they have sex in the living room, but Carolyn can't get into it and ends up faking her orgasm. Later, after Palek goes out to celebrate the sale with Nate and Sean, he comes home wanting to have sex, but Carolyn shrugs him off. He keeps trying until she has to tell him "no" flat-out. Angry, Palek says, "I f**ked you on demand for a year, whether I wanted to or not. Do you remember that?" Carolyn meets his frustration with her own: "I thought it was something we both wanted." They both go to sleep, but when Palek leaves to shop for clothes the next day, Carolyn realizes her period is late and takes a pregnancy test. It's positive.
May visits John at his new home, meeting his daughter while she waits for him to return. When they get a chance to talk, John reminisces about their past relationship, telling May that he sees this move more as "coming back" than "starting new." May, however, makes it clear their relationship is at an end and admits that the fantasy of them together comforted her during tough times with Arthur. "If you hadn't come back," she says, "I think I'd still be using it." Later, when Arthur asks May how things went with John, she says, "He's not the man I remember." Then she tells Arthur she loves him, and they kiss.
Hugo surprises Jamie outside her apartment, and though she's hesitant, she invites him inside. Hugo tells her he's has time to think, and he can't get her out of his mind. He wants to get back together. When Jamie admits she's seeing someone else, he begins to cry, and the hug she offers him quickly turns to sex. The next day, she tells Nick that she saw Hugo but promises that they won't get back together. Soon, however, she and Hugo are meeting with May to try to work things out or so he thinks. But, during the session, Jamie tells Hugo that she cheated on him throughout their relationship. Before storming out, Hugo says, "I guess I never even knew you. You f**ked with me; you really had me believing it was me."
