Robert Iler

"Playing the boss's son is fun. And it's fun to get into trouble."

HBO
Are you a gamer?

ILER
Yeah I like video games. I have everything from the first Nintendo at my house all the way up to X Box. So yeah, I really like to play video games.

HBO
How do you think the die-hard Sopranos® fans who can't get enough of the stuff, how do you think they'll react to it?

ILER
Good. I think a younger crowd is definitely going to be the bigger fan of the game, and hopefully everybody is going to like it.

HBO
Any advice for game players on how to get made in the world of the game?

ILER
Just kick a lot of asses. Grab guys by the head and knock them out, and that kind of good stuff.

HBO
How do you feel about seeing yourself and cast mates as video game characters?

ILER
Oh, I think it's great, seeing the virtual Tony, his hands together, and he's pointing the fingers, I think it's hilarious.

HBO
Does it keep you interested when the game has a story?

ILER
Yeah, of course. I think it's very important for a game like this to have a story. Otherwise it would ... running around and killing people gets old after a while, so you need something to keep your attention, otherwise it would all be the same stuff. The stories are very important.

HBO
And that's why you had so many script lines and so many different reactions based on what Joey, the player character, chooses.

ILER
Exactly. I had to do a lot of different options. Depending on what he Joey would do, would change what I would say and it would change where the whole game would go.

HBO
What's the number one question you get asked?

ILER
The number one question from fans is always, when are you coming back? Because we're always gone for a year and a half, or two years. And, is there going to be another season? And what's going to happen next with the Sopranos®. I also get a lot of people who tell me; "every year before the Sopranos® we start and we watch them over from the beginning." And they (say) "you were a baby." And I'm like, yeah I was

HBO
You're such a bad boy on the show, is that fun?

ILER
I love it. There's guys who go and kill somebody with a gun point blank, then Tony will yell at them and they won't say a word back. Then Tony yells at me and I fire a nasty comment right back at him. Playing the boss's son is fun. And it's fun to get into trouble.

HBO
How do you think the fans are going to feel when Big Pussy comes back to life in the game?

ILER
Well, everybody misses Pussy. No... [LAUGHTER] I mean ... Everybody is going to be very happy to see him back. We did the first two seasons and had a great time with him. There weren't many people who didn't like him, so I think people are going to be very happy to see him back.

HBO
Do you think the scripts for the game have really captured the personality of your character? What makes them authentic to the tone and style of the show and to your character AJ?

ILER
Yeah. Even though it's different from the stuff you see on the show, it's still a hundred percent AJ ... he's still the same rotten kid. It seems authentic for me because ... I've been playing AJ since I was twelve years old, and now I'm twenty-one so I could be put anywhere and just kind of click into AJ and so it's always going to seem authentic for me.

HBO
What's your favorite part of the game? What are the most exciting or interesting parts?

ILER
People are gonna be feeling like they're part of The Sopranos. Dealing with Paulie and Vito and Christopher and Silvio and Tony, they're gonna feel like they're part of the crew.
