"Herman "Hesh" Rabkin, mid-60's, an ex-officio (i.e., non-made) member of the Soprano family. Hesh is Jewish, which makes him a kind of outsider-insider. A close personal friend of Giovanni "Johnny Boy" Soprano, he has partnered on many Soprano scams over the years." |

For years his legit cover was F-Note Records, a small independent label active in the 1950's and 1960's, the heyday of payola. According to a slew of subsequent lawsuits, Hesh specialized in ripping off African-American artists by owning all the publishing on their songs. Just one hit single and you have a lifetime annuity.
Hesh now mainly functions as an unpaid counselor to Anthony Soprano, a kind of "fair witness" in family dealings. His advice is much-sought after- he may be the wisest one in the bunch. Seemingly wealthy, he lives on an expansive horse ranch in rural New Jersey. No known wife or children, but often seen in the company of a striking African- American woman, name unknown.
He has no independent source of power or support group. Extremely vulnerable if Tony, Junior, or anyone else turned against him. Privy to violence, but no killer. Encyclopedic knowledge of Soprano activities. How do we get him? Go after his money, I guess- it's all dirty.
UPDATE:
Rabkin continues to maintain the lowest profile of any Soprano associate. Although we have no doubt that he remains plugged into the rackets, we're no closer to getting any concrete proof of it. Lucky for us they aren't all as smart as Rabkin is.
