FBI FILES
Furio Giunta Furio Giunta Furio Giunta
Furio Giunta "We know very little about Furio Giunta. He's an import from Naples, around the same areas where the Sopranos themselves come from. My Italian contacts, who aren't all that cooperative, tell me that over there he was part of a Lamorra gang run by legendary old "Guappo" named Zio Vittorio, i.e. Uncle Victor." Furio Giunta
The acting boss is one Mauro Zucca, married to the old man's daughter, Annalisa. He's in jail for life. The person in charge, they say, is his daughter.

Apparently, the Sopranos and the Lamorra of that area have been in business together since importing heroin in the 1960's. We now speculate that they are in the stolen luxury car business. Unfortunately, we have no hard evidence to back this up, but we think The Sopranos send Vittorio's people hot Mercedes and they pay as much as $50-100,00 a car. Tony went over there awhile back and Furio came shortly thereafter.

This guy is a predator. The Neapolitan gangs are notoriously violent which is probably why he's here- to instill fear and get results.

UPDATE:

Giunta has apparently lived up to expectations: people are afraid of him. This probably makes Soprano happy with him, but we suspect he might not be so warmly received by his co-workers. CW16 often disparaged Giunta as an outsider; it's possible other members of the Soprano organization resent him as well.

As of this writing, Giunta is no longer in the U.S. He recently traveled to Italy, reportedly to attend his father's funeral. He returned, but shortly thereafter flew back to Italy. Indications are this time he intends to stay, as he bought a one-way ticket and put his recently purchased house up for sale. Needless to say, we'd like to know what prompted this sudden development.
