"Bobby "Bacala" Baccilieri, age unknown, is a very trusted soldier in the family, reporting directly to titular boss Corrado: Junior" Soprano. Married to Karen (Now deceased), two children, Sophia and Bobby Jr." |

He's by all accounts an extremely shy, soft-spoken, sensitive man, a kind of 300+ lb. "Gentle Giant," the total opposite of someone like Ralph Cifaretto. He functions full-time as Junior's "Goombah-de-camp" during Junior's house arrest for health problems.
Bacala is the son of Robert Baccilieri, Sr., a lifelong Soprano associate who recently died of a massive stroke after what people believe was a double hit approved by Tony Soprano. Bacala, Jr. is certainly capable of malice, but you wouldn't know it if you met him at a bar. He's the kind of guy you'd ask to play Santa Claus if he wasn't too shy to accept.
He has a problem with staying cool under pressure, and is given to a loss of emotional control. He is loyal to the core, but in the right state of emotional confusion, he might inadvertently reveal family secrets.
UPDATE:
Bacala is no longer entirely on Junior detail. He's been promoted; although his new duties are not fully known to us, collecting the old man's shy is likely one of them. One of Junior's old cronies now assists in ferrying him to court dates and doctor's appointments.
There is a development in Bacala's personal life as well. Since his wife's death, he's been seen in the company of Tony Soprano's sister, Janice. Will this bring him closer to Tony? Hard to tell. But it's worth keeping an eye on to see how it plays out.
