"Salvatore "Big Pussy" Bonpensiero, mid-50's, a DiMeo\Soprano soldier since the old days, when DiMeo ran the ship and Johnny Boy Soprano was active. An original member of Johnny Boy's crew, he maintained loyalty to Tony (not Junior) after Johnny's death. |

Relation to Tony: as close to a blood relative as a non-blood relative could be.
Salvatore is the son of Lino Bonpensiero- we're checking his past record, if any. He was married to Angie Bonpensiero, His wife of 25 years, and has 3 children, Terry (or Terri), Kevin, and Matt. Terry currently attends Villanova and Kevin and Matt are in high school. Salvatore is not a wealthy man- sending three kids to college is certain to be a financial strain. He has two choices- approach Tony about helping him out financially or find another source of illicit income. Many mob soldiers face the same dilemma; beg or betray the family. Agent Skip Lipari believes that Salvatore is breakable. We just need to find the catalyst.
Weaknesses: Financial problems, steadfast loyalty to wife and children, most likely a sense of being under appreciated for his decades of service to the family. Would he sell Tony down the river to save his own skin? If so, it would be a colossal act of treachery and needless to say, a major boon for us.
UPDATE:
Bonpensiero was arrested on drug trafficking charges and in exchange for avoiding trial (and likely incarceration in a federal institution) was made a Cooperating Witness (designation CW16). Agent Skip Lipari was Bonpensiero's handler and found him to be a frustrating assignment; Bonpensiero was never fully cooperative and provided little in the way of probative information. In addition, there continues to be suspicion that Bonpensiero was the so-called "husky accomplice" seen leaving Hacklebarney State Park with Tony Soprano on the night of Matthew Bevilaqua's murder.
Bonpensiero's current status is missing and presumed dead. His wife is known to have serious money problems (she was recently employed at a local supermarket); Bonpensiero would not go on the lam without providing financially for his family. Most likely, Soprano discovered he was a rat and handled the matter.
