Maureen Van Zandt grew up in North Jersey, surrounded by characters quite similar to those depicted in The Sopranos. As a child she played Baby June in the Broadway musical , Gypsy. After training at the High School of Performing Arts, the American Ballet Theatre School, and the School of American Ballet, she began a long dance career, performing with ABT, the Metropolitan Opera Ballet, the Garden State Ballet, and in the Broadway production of Hair. Upon retiring after an injury,she continued her acting training with Stella Adler and Herbert Berghof, and appeared in numerous theatrical productions on and off Broadway, as well as several films. Maureen joined the cast of Sopranos in its second season. In 2001,she co-founded the With Out Papers Theatre Company, and has produced and appeared in all of their shows, including a highly-acclaimed production of Clifford Odets' Golden Boy.She also produced and was casting director for the independent feature, Bloodlines. Maureen remains very active in the dance world, and in addition to teaching and coaching, serves as the artistic director, choreographer , and costume designer for her 1960's-style dance group, Garage Girls a Go-Go. She is currently involved in creating and producing an upcoming theatrical series.
