In the writers' room, eight people had eight different ideas about how Ruth would react the dissolution of her marriage to George. "We talk about the characters the way people talk about their friends," says executive producer Bruce Eric Kaplan. "Ruth and George are apart, and now it's a little bit in the future. What would life be like for Ruth? Would she hate it? Would she love it? There was a lot of back and forth. Everyone brought their own life into it." So what was the writers' consensus?
