Nancy Oliver has spent most of her career writing and directing original work for theater. She was a co-founder of the General Nonsense Theater Company and a founding member of Alarm Dog Rep. Her plays include Office, Dreams Are Funny, Calypso and VW as well as several pieces for young people. She was twice awarded Florida's Individual Artist Grant for Playwriting and has also worked as teacher, columnist and newspaper editor. She studied Drama at the Banff Fine Arts Center, Canada and Trinity College, Oxford, England. She holds a B.A. in English from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst and an M.A. in Acting and Directing from Florida State University.
