DGA Hands Out 9 Nominations to HBO

The Directors Guild of America announced its nominees for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Television, Commercials and Documentary for 2015. HBO received nine nominations across a variety of categories.

HBO led the comedy field with nods for Veep's Chris Addison ("Election Night") and Silicon Valley's Mike Judge ("Binding Arbitration"). Among dramas, Game of Thronesdirector David Nutter secured a nomination for his work on the Season 5 finale, "Mother's Mercy."

Directors Paul Haggis (Show Me a Hero) and Dee Rees (Bessie) received nods for their work in the Movies for Television and Mini-Series category. This is a first nomination for Rees, and a second for Haggis who earned one for 2005's Crash.

Filmmaker Amy Schatz received her tenth DGA nomination for Saving My Tomorrow, "Part 3" in the Children's Programs category, while Alex Gibney earned a nod in the documentary category for Going Clear: Scientology and the Prison of Belief.

Chris Rock received his first DGA nomination for his directorial excellence on Amy Schumer: Live at the Apollo; Paul G. Casey was again tapped for his work on Real Time with Bill Maher. He received his first nomination in 2014.
