CAST AWAY
Cast Away
Tom Hanks delivers a tour de force performance in this Robinson
Crusoe-style epic about one man's ultimate battle against nature…and
against himself. Chuck Noland (Hanks) is a self-made man who perfectly
twines his busy career as a system engineer for FedEx with his
deepening romantic relationship with his girlfriend Kelly (Helen
Hunt). But his whole life changes on Christmas Eve when his flight
home crashes into the sea, leaving Chuck stranded on a small deserted
island with only a few FedEx packages floating in from the wreckage to
remind him of civilization. Chuck slowly learns to survive—finding
food and water, creating shelter, making a fire—but as time passes,
his toughest battle becomes one against loneliness. Four years later,
Chuck makes an incredible escape from the island and is rescued, but
when he arrives home, he finds that the things he once held onto in
life—including Kelly—have dramatically changed.

combination of visual style and verbal flair in this "enthralling"
(Washington Post) crime caper. Gene Hackman stars as Joe Moore, an

forced to retire. Danny DeVito co-stars as Bergman, a shady money
handler who holds back on Joe's cut of the loot…unless the crook
agrees to take on one last job: the theft of a heavily guarded
shipment of Swiss gold. Delroy Lindo, Rebecca Pidgeon and Ricky Jay
co-star as Hackman's partners in crime while Sam Rockwell plays
Bergman's obnoxious nephew—all of whom wind up involved in a dizzying
circle of twists and turns.
