Summary: Nicolas Cage directed this compelling film about a boy who returns home from the military to his mother who runs a seedy brothel in New Orleans. After a stint in the Army, Sonny comes home to his mother Jewel, a madam and former prostitute running a staggering brothel business with only one working girl. Although his mother hoped he'd rejoin the business and "work" for her again, Sonny opts to leave New Orleans in search of a better job and life in Texas. But with few job prospects and a budding relationship with the beautiful prostitute Carol (Mena Suvari), Sonny begins to think twice about leaving the French Quarter.
