Summary: A slumping author's struggle to get beyond his personal problems is worsened by a sinister stranger's claim of plagiarism in this thriller based on a Stephen King novella. Johnny Depp stars as Mort Rainey, a quirky writer whose marital troubles and writer's block are exacerbated by the arrival of John Shooter. A Southern man with a broad-brimmed hat and a menacing presence, Shooter wants retribution for a story he claims Mort stole from him. But as Mort tries to prove his innocence, he begins to come unglued, leading to a terrifying conclusion. John Turturro, Maria Bello, Timothy Hutton and Charles S. Dutton co-star.
