Summary: "Four stars" (New York Post). John Turturro stars as Herbert Stempel, a Jewish man from Queens whose incredible reign as champion on the wildly popular game show Twenty-One was brought to a surprising end when he failed to answer a simple question. New champion Charles Van Doren--a handsome intellectual from a well-to-do literary family--would go on to achieve national fame..until Stempel revealed that he had been paid to lose, resulting in an explosive national scandal and a congressional investigation.
