Summary: An aspiring beauty queen finds herself caught in the middle of Mexico's bloody drug war in this "first-rate art-house thriller" (New York Times). Inspired by true events, the story centers on a young Mexican woman who dreams of escaping her life of poverty by winning a beauty pageant. That dream is shattered, however, after she inadvertently witnesses a gangland massacre in a nightclub, and is kidnapped and forced to work for a ruthless drug cartel in order to keep her family alive.
