Summary: Plucked from poverty and thrust into the national spotlight in India, Budhia Singh ran 48 marathons by the age of four, winning thousands of fans and making headlines around the world. But what began as a remarkable rags-to-riches story collapsed into a tale of greed, corruption, murder and broken dreams. Filmed from 2005 to 2010, this film reveals the unlikely story of young Budhia who was sold to a street hawker, then rescued by Biranchi Das, a charismatic judo coach and orphanage operator. Recognizing Budhia's uncommon talent for long-distance running, Biranchi nurtured the boy's gift, entering him in races that would turn him into a folk hero until they became swept up in a maelstrom of controversy and scandal that led to their separation and, later, numbing tragedy.
