Summary: A young aspiring writer's reunion with his estranged father leads him on an unexpected journey of addiction and inspiration in this "poignant and potent" (Philadelphia Inquirer) film. Robert De Niro delivers one of his finest performances as Jonathan Flynn, a ranting, raving wreck and self-proclaimed great writer. His son Nick (Paul Dano) is a similarly dysfunctional wordsmith whose life is turned upside down when Jonathan--whom he hasn't seen in nearly 20 years--moves into the homeless shelter where he works. Olivia Thirlby, Lili Taylor and Julianne Moore co-star in this moving and highly personal drama.
