Growing up in East LA as the son of a boxer, Arreola had a 200+ fight amateur career between the age of 8 and 16 before giving up the sport. In 2000 Arreola came back from his self-imposed layoff and managed to win the National Golden Gloves Championship in 2001 after only 3 months of training.

At the age of nine, Dmitriy moved to Brooklyn from the Ukraine in order to escape discrimination against him and his family. Upon arrival in New York, Salita was exposed to Orthodox Judaism and now follows strict adherence to Jewish law.
The series is inspired by the real lives of eight hopeful boxers with dreams of becoming champions. Each of the promising contenders will have their stories told in three four-to-six minute segments.

Ring Life chronicles the lives of these aspirants as they define the spirit of boxing, balancing jobs, family life, training, expectations and the pursuit of their dreams.
