The Booster
Like many college sports fans, Dallas billionaire Boone Pickens wants his alma mater to have a successful and exciting athletic program. But unlike many college sports fans, Pickens will pay whatever it takes to make his alma mater, Oklahoma State University, one of the most competitive in the country. In January 2006, Pickens sent the OSU athletic department a check for $165 million - an amount he claims is only the tip of the iceberg. While this unprecedented gift to athletics has OSU sports fans teeming with excitement, Pickens' generosity has yet to be embraced by everyone. REAL SPORTS correspondent Bernard Goldberg reports on OSU's guardian angel.
