Oklahoma State Tragedy
On a snowy night in January 2001, a small turbo prop plane carrying members of the Oklahoma State men's basketball team crashed in Colorado, killing all on board - two players, six staff members and two pilots. Two months after the tragedy, with investigators still trying to sort out what went wrong that night, REAL SPORTS' Armen Keteyian spoke with OSU head coach Eddie Sutton about the most difficult episode in his long coaching career and talked to family members trying to come to grips with the loss of a loved one. A report released by the National Transportation Safety Board in January of 2003 blamed the crash on electrical failure and pilot disorientation. As another March Madness approaches, with the OSU Cowboys one of the top-ranked teams in the nation, Keteyian looks back at the crash and its aftermath, and examines the NTSB's findings.
