On Obama

I think, on the left, he's the most charismatic figure since Robert Kennedy, and I think that this campaign is a mirror image in many ways of what happened in 1968. Ronald Reagan, for the Republican Party, was a very charismatic figure as well, as you'll remember.  Tom Brokaw

On Terrorism

Since 9/11, there have been a series of terrorist attacks in various places in the western world. And what is striking with each of them is that each is less sophisticated than the one before. The attack in Madrid, Spain, was less sophisticated than 9/11; the attack in London was less sophisticated than the attack in Spain. And what seems to be happening is that because of things like the foreign surveillance, that these terrorist groups are being bisected into smaller and smaller pieces. They're finding it more and more difficult to communicate with each other. And so their operations are more and more primitive.  David Frum

On McCain

The ethics scandal wasn't really there, so they had to have the hint of sex to make you read the article. And then you realize the sex wasn't there either. And, I can tell you from a conservative Republican standpoint, the best thing that article did was unite all the conservatives behind McCain.  Rep. Jack Kingston

The issue with McCain is that I don't think he ever really got over the experience of being in Vietnam and not being able to hit all the bombing targets that he wanted to hit. I mean, he talked in his book about how, when he flew over Hai Phong and he saw Russian ships in the harbor, that ⬠that his idiot civilian commanders wouldn't let him bomb those.  Matt Taibbi
