I don't bully easy. I mean, I hate to disagree with The New York Times - I was a strong vote to close down Guantanamo, and to restore habeas corpus, and we've fixed a lot of things in this bill. And the American citizens can still sue the people who are responsible, and that's this administration, and the government officials that were responsible for it. I do think that those companies did act in good faith, and this narrow exception I think is appropriate, because the heavy hand of government was around their neck. And I think we need to hold that heavy-handed government responsible, and that is the Bush administration.  Sen. Claire McCaskill

On Approval Ratings

We don't know what will happen if there's a terrorist attack. What generally happens is that the president, no matter which party it is, they benefit. When Bill Clinton was at war, he benefited from that. When Bush, after 9/11, his popularity went up to 91%. Most likely, he would benefit initially. The question then becomes, who do you trust?
