Synopsis

The Killing Fields

Producers: Chapman Downes | David Scott

Correspondent: David Scott

They are the most majestic creatures on earth, but the beauty and massive ivory tusks of African elephants have also made them the most coveted kill in the world. REAL SPORTS goes inside the war to save the African elephant from extinction, examining a sport that claims to be the species’ best hope. From the Congo to Kenya to Tanzania, correspondent David Scott investigates the scourge of elephant poaching by terrorists and criminal syndicates who are feeding the lucrative illegal ivory trade. Amidst this carnage, the U.S. government wants wealthy American hunters to stop hunting elephants for sport, while the trophy hunters insist that the money they pay is critical to fighting poachers and is the only way to save them.

Magic Mike

Producer: Tim Walker

Correspondent: Andrea Kremer

Mike “Doc” Emrick, NBC’s NHL play-by-play broadcaster, isn’t your typical sports personality. He’s never learned to skate, let alone play hockey, and is the rare broadcaster with a Ph.D in communications – hence the nickname “Doc” – which may explain why he calls one of the fastest-paced sports with such grace. Despite a demeanor that appears to be the polar opposite of the rough-and-tumble game, Emrick has flourished during his nearly 40 years in hockey. REAL SPORTS correspondent Andrea Kremer joins the 69-year-old Emrick on opening night of the 2015-16 NHL season, visits his home in Michigan and gets the premier voice of the league to weigh in on some of hockey’s most pressing issues.
