Year of the Boss

If you missed Bruce Springsteen's HBO performance at the inauguration of President Obama, you're about to get a second chance. In honor of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's 25th anniversary, the Boss will be playing alongside U2 and ... well, pretty much whoever he wants. Rolling Stone founder and exec-producer Jann Wenner puts it like this: "Once you've got Springsteen and U2, it became easy to make calls and say, 'Do you want to play on a bill with these guys?' We've asked each act to do special things, like tributes to their influences, so they won't just be taking an hour out of their existing shows and dropping it in here," he says. "Bruce is figuring out which Elvis song he'll play." (photo: Dave Hogan/Mission/Getty Images)

Almost Famous

Jemaine Clement, the self-proclaimed dark-horse to take home an Emmy on Sunday for lead actor in a comedy series for 'Flight of the Conchords,' told the New York Times: "Even I went 'who?' when I got to my name in the list." And when his interviewer insisted that his modesty was false, given that the 'Conchords' (whose show received five other nominations, including in the best comedy series and best comedy writing categories) are very successful in New Zealand where they've won "plenty" of awards, Clement set him straight. "I wouldn't use the word 'plenty,' I would use the word 'two.' In New Zealand you can only earn respect by getting awards overseas. We'll probably win an award in New Zealand just for being nominated for one in the States." (photo: Stephen Lovekin/Getty Images)

Like Kissing Your Sister

If you think Amanda Seyfried has gotten a little free-wheeling on 'Big Love' lately, you'll be shocked to see her new film, 'Jennifer's Body,' in which she stars opposite Megan Fox — and shares a much-hyped kiss with the actress. But when it came time to shoot the scene on a crowded set, Seyfried felt weird in a dozen different ways. "I was uncomfortable, because, like, I kiss men. Even in front of people — to kiss someone for the first time, female or male, is still awkward. And then also, with a female, I was worried that she would judge me. Or, it was just awkward because we were kind of pals, and then we had to make out with each other." (photo: George Pimentel/WireImage.com)

Get the Skinny

For any dudes out there who've envied Jason's self-proclaimed "sex abilities" on 'True Blood,' actor Ryan Kwanten is giving up the secret to his lady-killing physique. Unfortunately, the results appear to be largely genetic: "I don't have trainers or anything like that. Whether it's running on the beach or swimming in the ocean, yoga, tennis — I could go through a whole list of things — I just pretty much keep myself on my toes and try not to get bored. I probably do an hour every day. I'm never going to be one of those people at a restaurant looking at someone else's meal and wishing they were eating it. I love my food too much to be doing that." But if it makes you feel any better, fellas, at least Kwanten isn't out there capitalizing on his unnaturally effective fitness plan. "I'm single. I'm not really looking right now," he says. "Unfortunately, I just can't devote an enormous amount of time to women right now. I'm concentrated right now on working." (photo: Todd Williamson/WireImage.com)

Laughing All the Way to the Bank

For years, all those public-service announcements have been trying to convince kids that reading is fun. Turns out they've been telling the truth — when the children's literacy charity 826NYC throws a party, it's one you don't want to miss. Previous awesome-sounding benefits have included a 'Superhero Fashion Show' and 'Scrabble for Cheaters,' and now the group is raising cash in New York with a stand-up comedy night hosted by none other than 'Bored to Death' creator Jonathan Ames. Comics on hand include Eugene Mirman, Wyatt Cenac and John Oliver, along with mysterious "special guests." Tickets are on sale for the Sept. 14 event at the Highline Ballroom in New York City.
