Is Doug Ellin getting modest in season six? In a recent interview, the 'Entourage' creator said that Mark Wahlberg and his entourage the inspiration for Vince and the boys were all good with the show's depiction of his lifestyle. Save for a couple of sticking points. "They love it," Ellin laughs. "Although at the first screening at Mark's house for his friends, I remember one of them saying, 'Mark could kick Vince's f**king ass!' I think they like it. They still give me comments. Mark's got his buddy Rasta Russ. He came over the other day; he'd watched a bunch of episodes and he's like [surly growl], 'Needs more naked girls!' Because the truth is, there are not that many naked girls in the show." (photo: Jason LaVeris/FilmMagic.com)

What does an actor who spent nearly every day for 6-7 months playing one of America's founding fathers over a sixty-year age span (yes, we're talking about Paul Giamatti as John Adams) do for an encore? Apparently he returns to his roots by playing himself. In first-time director Sophie Barthes' 'Cold Souls,' Giamatti plays tortured New York actor "Paul Giamatti." But he insists the similarities stop there, explaining it's "the persona, rather than the actual person....There's no direct biographical connection, and I certainly hope I'm not as neurotic as this guy is," says the real Giamatti. " I don't know that I'd be able to get out of bed in the morning." (photo: Jordin Althaus/WireImage.com)

Jonathan Ames, writer and creator of the new HBO comedy series 'Bored to Death,' wowed the audience at the Television Critics Association last week when he opened his show's session with a "harried call," a loud cry that he and his odd-ball childhood friends apparently used to ward off the threats of more "normal children." And while he and the show's stars Zach Galifianakis, Ted Danson and Jason Schwartzman (via satellite) entertained the crowd with wisecracks, Ames did admit he was tempting fate with the name of his series. Apparently he doesn't learn. He explained that when he titled one of his books: 'What's Not to Love?' he later thought: "Oh, God, why wasn't I like Dave Eggers and put 'genius' in the title?'" With news that HBO is picking up 'Hung' for a second season, the show's co-creator Colette Burson is feeling optimistic about the fate of creative writers. She and her co-creator (and husband) Dmitry Lipkin spent years studying writing and writing for the stage before finding success. In a recent interview with the Huffington Post, Burson advises: "I do think that creative energy finds an outlet. I went to school with 40 writers and then I was in a theatre company with 20 writers and over the years I have known hundreds of writers and there is not a one where I could say oh god they tried so hard but it never happened for them. I just don't think that is the way creative energy works. I think that you need to be devoted to your craft, keep at it and stay open to the possibilities that life brings you. Don't be too hermetically sealed off or too fragile or vulnerable that you don't put yourself out there in the world. I think if you are open to life's experiences and keep trying to write in different ways and roll with all the punches success comes to everyone." (photo: Jeff Kravitz/FilmMagic.com)

One of TV's most famous curmudgeons is finally giving 'Seinfeld' audiences what they've been clamoring for, but on his own terms. Larry David announced at HBO's presentation to the Television Critics Association last week that there will be a Seinfeld reunion on 'Curb Your Enthusiasm.' "I said I'd never do that. It's a lame idea," David said. "But then I thought it might be funny to do on 'Curb.' I started to think of different scenarios and how we might pull that off." ![]() Mecurio Rising
