'True Blood' star Stephen Moyer (much like his petulant progeny on the show) has undergone some adjustments since becoming a vampire. His now-famous face is perfectly at home in Los Angeles, however, where people are pretty used to that sort of thing. "They're very comfortable just coming up and saying, 'Hey, man. I love your work.' And then they leave you alone," Moyer says. "It's really quite refreshing. You get the odd one who comes up and says 'Bite me,' and I've literally met three people who've named their dog Sookie ... But on the whole, it's pretty much the same." The creators of HBO's new comedy 'Hung' (starring Thomas Jane) don't want people to get hung up on the title. Instead, they'd like viewers to go deeper. "A penis isn't very intellectually interesting at the end of the day," Colette Burson (who created the show with her husband Dmitri Lipkin) told the press. "We always came at it from a socio-economic point of view." Still, it's hard to deny that the origins of the idea may have come from a shallower place: "Whenever you're around a guy who is hung, sooner or later they drop a reference to that," Burson explained. Alan Ball has referred to 'True Blood' as "popcorn TV for smart people." And Michelle Forbes, who has come to Bon Temps as the mysterious Maryann has a theory about just how the show's creator has become the Orville Redenbacher of HBO: "Alan still asks questions about family and love, the pack mentality thinking, and how susceptible we are to judgement and having our minds changed about things we don't understand. And, he's able to explore these themes, but it never gets too heavy. There's always a pratfall right behind it, or a really gross sex scene, or something that will shift the tone." Jeremy Piven admitted on a recent panel of comedians that shooting 'Entourage' without a live audience, it took him awhile to realize he wasn't shooting a drama. "I did not know my show was a comedy until the third season. Seriously. Because it isn't as if I can look to a group of guys behind the scenes to see if they're laughing. You're just in a very contained microcosm doing your thing." But now he knows where the yucks are: "I don't think 'Entourage' would work as well if you had limitations of language. I actually don't know if I can do anything without saying "f**k" anymore." (photo: Tasos Katopodis/Getty Images)

Despite what you may think, Larry David does not play himself on 'Curb Your Enthusiasm.' David explains the subtle dissimilarity: "The only difference is he's much more honest than I am. He's brutally honest, and I am not. People seem to think that he's cranky, I get that. I don't see him as a curmudgeon. I just think he's honest, and he gets in confrontations with people because he's honest. I am not honest. Because of this very delicate, socially balanced world we live in, you can't talk like that." So what to make of his recent statement regarding his role in Woody Allen's new film 'Whatever Works'? "Long-term relationships between men and women I think are doomed," he says. "So I don't have high hopes for them. For him. For most people." (photo: Jason Merritt/Getty Images) |
