Queen Bee

Evan Rachel Wood made a major splash playing a little monster in 'Thirteen,' and now she's about to become a real one — as a creature of the night on 'True Blood.' The actress will portray the vampire queen of Louisiana: Sophie-Anne, a 500-year-old French vampiress who's rubbed elbows with some of the main characters in your history book. Life of the Party

Larry David defied expectations by showing up at the opening night festivities for the Tribeca Film Festival premiere of the new Woody Allen film 'Whatever Works' (in which David plays, not surprisingly, a grumpy old man). "I'm not anti-social," he insisted. "I'm anti-social once I get there and realize there's no one I want to talk to. But I do go out." (photo: Jason Kempin/WireImage.com)

Another Side of Paquin

Anna Paquin spent her hiatus from 'True Blood' playing the lead role in the recent Hallmark Hall of Fame TV movie 'The Courageous Heart of Irena Sendler.' Paquin was humbled to play Sendler, a Nobel Peace Prize nominee who rescued Jewish children during World War II: "I was like, 'I make movies and TV shows and she rescued 2,500 kids out of the Warsaw Ghetto.' I wanted to do her justice and tell that story in a way that has integrity and truth, and also is not going to be fluffy or trivial. Ultimately, her story is one of hope." The End Is Near?

David Simon admits in his televised interview with journalist Bill Moyer that he's a reporter, not a prophet. Still, the creator of 'The Wire' had a few predictions to cast on the current plight our country finds itself in. "We're not going to make it as a first rate empire. And I'm not sure that that's a bad thing in the end. I mean, you know, empires end. And that doesn't mean cultures end completely. I mean ... Britain's still there. And they've come to terms with what they can and can't do. Americans are still sort of in an age of delusion, I think. ... Listen, I don't like talking this way. I would be happy to find out that 'The Wire' was hyperbolic and ridiculous. And that the American Century is still to come. I don't believe it, but I'd love to believe it, because I live in Baltimore and I'm an American." (photo: Jordan Strauss/WireImage.com)

Dream Analysis

As Paul Weston's ex-wife Kate on 'In Treatment,' Michelle Forbes' character may not be the biggest fan of therapy. After all, she had to vie with patients for her husband's attention, and Kate and Paul's couples counseling sessions didn't end well. But Forbes the actress couldn't be happier to be returning for a second season of 'Treatment.' "It's just heaven to have that big juicy scene in your hands and to not be piddling about with silly moving the plot along, or moving the D plot along," she says. "It really is just this focused, concentrated story where we turn every single moment over and over until we understand it. It is an actor's dream in that regard." (photo: Brian To/FilmMagic.com)

Gentlemen's Clubbing

Adrian Grenier and the guys are back filming the sixth season of 'Entourage,' and Grenier claims it's a nice reunion with his pals — no drama, no pranks. "We're all very cordial, respectful gentleman," he told E Online. Regardless, we don't expect to see any smoking jackets and brandy snifters any time soon: "We are going back to our roots! Good old season-one fun and indulgences — Vince is actually succeeding again." (photo: Jean Baptiste Lacroix/WireImage.com)
