Sure, 'True Blood' was a runaway hit this fall on HBO, and millions of fans have become addicted to Alan Ball's wild take on the Southern vampire series. But now the show's been crowned by the true arbiter of good taste: Celeb nudity site Mr. Skin has granted Lizzy Caplan and Anna Paquin two of the top three spots in 2008's Hottest Nude Scenes, with Caplan claiming No. 1. As the site's press release says: "All the nudity on TV this year finally made good on the term 'boob tube.'" (photo: Jeffrey Mayer/WireImage.com) ![]() Behind the Curve
In an on-set interview with Danny McBride and the team behind his forthcoming HBO series 'Eastbound and Down,' the comic actor reveals that creating and playing a former baseball hero has been a stretch. "What's so funny, is that ... we're not into sports at all," McBride says. "We're movie guys, music guys. We don't follow any f**king sports teams. I don't know sh*t about baseball or football, any of that sh*t. So, when we wrote this, this is from the perspective of what baseball seemed like to us. ... We were like, 'God, look at the state of this, this is America's Sport and there are all of these f**king assholes who use steroids.' Kids look up to them, buy their cards and these guys-not all of them-but they're not hard to spot."

President of HBO Documentary Films Sheila Nevins was honored with a tribute at the Gotham Independent Film Awards this week. The woman (pictured here with fellow honoree Melvin Van Peebles) who has wracked up 22 primetime Emmys®, 25 news and documentary Emmys® and 28 Peabody Awards says the secret to her success is always looking for the next thing. "Things are over so quickly in television," she says. "You don't feel the roar of the crowd, so it's hard to be complacent." (photo: Jemal Countess/WireImage.com)

Ginnifer Goodwin has made a habit of ruling red carpets, but the 'Big Love' star swears she's no slave to fashion. Case in point: The fading fabulosity of leggings. "Whether they're in or out, they keep you warm! I express myself through clothes but clothes don't define me," she says. The actress even has one sartorial staple that she refuses to fall for. "I only wear heels when a stylist puts me in them. My boyfriend [actor Chris Klein] and I like exactly where the tip of my head hits his body. Heels throw off our dynamic." Bruno Heller knows 'Rome' wasn't built in a day. When asked by the NY Times about his recent Hollywood success (the new CBS hit 'The Mentalist') the show creator said: "You make that sound very exciting and glamorous. Not much happens, really. No rose petals are scattered in my path. I haven't been to any parties. And if I went to parties, they would say, 'Well done.' And then they would say, 'Let's see how he does in the back nine,' when I walked away." Heller felt he had something to prove going from HBO to a network. "Having had that luxury of profanity and openness that you get on cable, I guess I wanted to prove to myself, and to the business at large, that I could work in a completely different format." Plus, "I didn't want to do anything with people wearing sandals anymore." But there may be open toes in his future; rumor has it there is talk of a 'Rome' movie. (photo: Lee Celano/WireImage.com)

Frenetic comic Sam Kinison made his breakthrough on HBO in 1984 when he performed for 'Rodney Dangerfield's Ninth Annual Young Comedians Special.' Now the comedian is about to make a posthumous homecoming in the HBO Film 'Brother Sam,' a script based on the memoir Bill Kinison wrote after his famous brother died in a 1992 car accident. At one point powered by Howard Stern, the film will star Dan Fogler ('Balls of Fury,' 'The Marconi Brothers') as the legendary preacher-turned-humorist. He may leave his dirty socks on the floor at home, but Adrian Grenier is still trying to do what he can to clean up the planet. The co-creator of the green lifestyle show 'Alter Eco,' was on hand for Wired's pop-up store in Manhattan recently and explained how his own personal yin/yang worked when he decided to renovate his Brooklyn brownstone in an eco-friendly way: "I'm sort of both a control freak and a slob, and this was something I could control that also contributed, in a small way, to cleaning up the planet," Grenier said. Tattooed heavyweight Chris Arreola's billing as "The Nightmare" makes sense when you see him come out swinging, but when 'Ring Life' followed the boxer around his home and neighborhood, he just seems like a typical family guy albeit a very large one. The filming felt just as odd to the fighter. "It was a pretty surreal experience having cameras with you and having to answer all kinds of questions," Arreola says. "I'm not used to it. I kept asking myself, 'How did I get here? Is this how it's gonna be when I'm Heavyweight Champion of the World?' Overall, it was a pretty cool experience." |
