Chris Lilley has seen the promised land and it's a split level Ranch in the Valley. The Aussie actor-comedian is in the U.S. for the kick off of his show 'Summer Heights High,' in which he plays all three main characters. But the guy who created a show that New York Magazine describes as "Amy Sedaris and Ricky Gervais spawning a child who grows up to star on 'The Hills,'" was more interested in seeing his Mecca than promoting himself. "New York has nothing on the Brady Bunch house," says Lilley, regarding his recent LA visit to the homestead of his childhood TV obsession. "Oh my god!" (photo: Serge Thomann/WireImage.com)

Chris Noth is back in New York to do an off-Broadway play, the political drama 'Farragut North,' in which he plays the campaign manager of a Democratic presidential hopeful in the last days before the Iowa caucus. To research the role, he hung out with the man who ran Howard Dean's bid, Joe Trippi and gained new respect for the commitment of political operatives. "The sacrifices that these guys make and what they put themselves through is astonishing," Noth said. "I mean, they literally make themselves ill with the stress and the life on the road it's something I hadn't quite realized." (photo: Kevin Mazur/Wireimage) ![]() Movie of the Week
Despite the Internet rumors, 'Sopranos' creator David Chase is NOT at work on a feature film about the Jersey family. The closest you're going to get is the new DVD set 'The Sopranos: The Complete Series,' which, according to Chase, is more than 80 movies ... "Each week we would ask ourselves, 'What's the movie we're trying to make this week?' Because that's what we were trying to do make 13 small features every season, and that's why for me from the very beginning the continuing story aspects were less of an interest to me than the stand-alone episodes." George Carlin wasn't much for awards ceremonies but there was one he was planning to be present for: The Mark Twain Prize for American Humor. Alas, the honor was given posthumously at the Kennedy Center on Monday. Comics, friends and family gathered to pay tribute, including Bill Maher who noted: "What can you say about George Carlin that hasn't been argued in the Supreme Court?" And Lily Tomlin quoted one of her favorite Carlin observations: "I'm not worried about all hell breaking loose, I'm more concerned about a part of hell breaking loose. It's much harder to detect." ![]() Your Samantha is Showing
When Kim Cattrall was asked for advice to beat jet lag, she suggested (surprise, surprise)... Sex! "I find the best thing to do is to not to sleep," she says. "My advice is as soon as you arrive, stay up as long as you can. Wherever you are, stay up as long as you can and have as much fun as you can, if you know what I mean, and then go to sleep." Ed Norton's people may have been vying for the fictional 'Smokejumpers' on 'Entourage' this season, but in real life Norton was busy shepherding a documentary. HBO has announced it will air a doc about President-Elect Obama's campaign produced by Ed Norton's company Class 5 Films. And even though the filmmakers had "unprecedented and exclusive access" it won't be your typical behind-the-scenes take. "Senator Obama's history making race for the White House has given our film a perfect framework to explore the pulse of the country at this vital moment in our history," said Norton. "We believe this film will capture a tipping point in American history when a new generation of leadership emerged and old prejudices were finally vaulted over." (photo: Bryan Bedder/Getty Images)

It must have been tough for Michael Imperioli to find a character whose look could compete with Christopher Moltisanti's suits, but this killer 'stache he grew for 'Life on Mars' says it all. "I stopped shaving when I got cast because I wanted to see what I wanted to do with it," he says. "The clothes. A lot of them tended towards conservative but there was a specific look. ... It's amazing how much things have changed. There was a lot of polyester." But how will he keep that upper lip growth from landing him a walk-on in 'Boogie Nights 2'? "They'll maintain it when I get to work. Somebody else will do it." (photo: Bobby Bank/WireImage.com) ![]() Misunderstood
Ricky Gervais has some pet peeves when it comes to his American fan base. The funny man brought his own top ten list when he visited David Letterman last week. Apparently in the Gervais Doctrine, UK-US relations would improve drastically with mandatory EFL (English as a First Language) courses. Included on the lineup of Stupid Things Americans Say to Brits were several digs about Yanks not understanding what he's saying, including "What do you mean, 'Let's go and smoke a fag'?"
