Drumming Up Business

Okay, try and keep up: Adrian Grenier plays drums in his band The Honey Brothers, alongside fellow bandmate Ari Gold (his real name). Ari Gold made a feature film about a guy who plays an air drummer, played by Adrian Grenier. That film. 'Adventures in Power,' has been making its way around the film festival circuit, picking up awards and fans. Reports Gold: "Neil Peart [the drummer] from Rush, who never saw the movie, finally saw a secret new version a few days ago, and in his beautiful email yesterday he wrote: 'In a word, Yeah! In two words, F**K YEAH!'" Southerners can catch it tonight as the Opening Night Gala film at the Sidewalk Festival in Birmingham Alabama. (photo: Larry Busacca/WireImage.com)

Mission Impossible

Most people would assume that 'Little Britain' creators Matt Lucas and David Walliams brought their show to the U.S. simply because it's hilarious. But recently, the duo admitted to taking part in an international conspiracy to dethrone a certain British soccer star. "Well Simon Fuller brought us out here," says Lucas. "He of American Idol, Spice Girls and David Beckham — he invented David Beckham, you know. He said 'I think you could be funnier than David Beckham,' so he brought us out here." The Joy of Sex

With the 'Sex and the City' movie coming out on DVD this week — and chatter about a second film making the rounds — the show's many fans have plenty to talk about. And all of it still surprises a grateful Kristin Davis: "'Sex and the City' was not at all what any of us expected," she says. "You never expect something to be as successful and go for as long as we got to go. We had just a really incredible time. It was like a three-ring circus. It was stunning. Not a day would go by that someone wouldn't say how much they miss the show or how much they love the show. They're very supportive fans." (photo: Michelly Rall/WireImage.com)

Back to Basics

How does an actor with a facility for playing fast-talking Type-A types top winning an Emmy®? Do it again, only without a net. In a video for Funny or Die, Jeremy Piven tours the after-parties with his trophy for playing Ari Gold telling guests that he's heading back to Broadway to star in David Mamet's 'Speed the Plow.' "Don't go back," urge the deadpanning Laura Dern and Mary Steenburgen. "Move forward." (photo: Jeff Kravitz/FilmMagic.com)

Opposition Party

Tom Hanks has stormed the beaches of Normandy, catapulted into space and nearly starved on a deserted island. But don't expect "partied like a rockstar" to show up on that list anytime soon. "It's a school night," the 'John Adams' exec-producer told a reporter while attending an Emmy afterparty. "This is all a bit of a chore, honestly. I'm shouting at everyone I meet, I'm taking pictures with everyone who wants to. ... We're really glad the series won. Great cast, killer crew. ... But I gotta be at work at 6 a.m. tomorrow. I've got about 15 minutes left in me." (photo: Mathew Imaging/WireImage.com)

Lip Service

David Walliams, one half of the 'Little Britain USA' sketch-comedy duo, likes to kiss and tell. In one of the sketches in the new series which premieres Sunday, he locks lips with Sting and for some reason it took him five times to get it right. Walliams reports: "It was strangely enjoyable, we've kept in touch and who knows what may happen." (photo: Mark Von Holden/WireImage.com)

Funny Man

Jeremy Piven has won an impressive three Emmys® now for his role as Ari Gold on 'Entourage.' You'd think that was some sort of record. But as reporter pointed out to Piven, there's still a man to beat, to which Piven replied: "There isn't a moment when I don't ask myself, 'When am I going to take down Don Knotts?'" (Knotts has five Emmys® for supporting actor in a comedy). (photo: Mathew Imaging/WireImage.com)

Dear Abby

'John Adams' bumped its Emmy® total to 13 on Sunday night, edging past the 11 statues 'Angels in America' received in 2004. Laura Linney — who took the Outstanding Lead Actress award for her portrayal of Abigail Adams — called the miniseries "one of the best jobs I've ever had. It was difficult and challenging, but that's what good work should be. It was a Herculean task. We knew it could be really good or really silly. We're just so glad it worked out." HBO at the Emmys®

'John Adams' was Sunday's big winner at the 2008 Primetime Emmy® Awards in Los Angeles. In addition to winning the Outstanding Miniseries prize, stars Paul Giamatti, Laura Linney and Tom Wilkinson were honored for their outstanding work as the HBO Films miniseries received a record 13 awards. 'Recount' was recognized as the Outstanding Made for TV Movie, while the awards for Outstanding Individual Performance in a Variety or Music Program and Outstanding Variety, Music or Comedy Special went to Don Rickles and his HBO comedy special 'Mr. Warmth: The Don Rickles Project.'

'Entourage' star Jeremy Piven collected his third consecutive Emmy® for his portrayal of super-agent Ari Goldberg as Dianne Wiest and Glynn Turman took home statues for their 'In Treatment' roles. Other winners included, HBO Documentary Film's Outstanding Nonfiction Special 'Autism: The Musical' and 'White Light, Black Rain: The Destruction of Hiroshima and Nagasaki' was cited for Exceptional Merit in Nonfiction Filmmaking — HBO collected 26 awards in total. )

Sitting Pretty

'In Treatment' star Garbriel Byrne has had a long and successful career, so he's not about to get a big head over becoming a sex symbol after all that time. Then again, when the New York Times labels you "the new McDreamy," who's to argue? "Well, when I started my career they were calling sheep farmers sexy," Byrne says, "so it's nice to know that as one grows older... I'm nearly 60 years of age. So that Dr McDreamy thing, whatever that means, it's a nice thing but it doesn't change who I am as an actor, or alter my perception of who I am." (photo: Jesse Grant/WireImage.com)
