The Profiler

Ashley Jensen has resorted to fan profiling when she gets a compliment these days. As she explains it: "It's a bit embarrassing when people come up and say, 'I love your show.' I don't want to be cocky and go, 'Oh, which one?' so I have to figure it out by looking at them. If you're a discerning media type, you're probably talking about 'Extras.' If you're a woman or, let's face it, a gay man, it's 'Ugly Betty.' (photo: Alexandra Wyman/WireImage.com)

That's a Rap

'The Wire' has created film and TV opportunities for a number of unknown actors (some of whom carried real-life back-stories as colorful as the characters' they played on-screen), but Brandon Young, who played journalist Mike Fletcher, has decided to take his new recognition in a different direction, as rapper B Young: "Doing 'The Wire' opened doors for me in the music community," Young says. "I'd be at hip-hop events, and people would recognize me from the show. They wanted to see what I could bring to the table. I shared that with my music friends back home, and Tha S Ence said we should do a project together. He's been e-mailing me beats pretty frequently, and I've been writing lyrics to go with them. I've got a job temping as a file clerk at a pharmaceutical company, and during my down time I'll be there with a pen and headphones getting my ideas out. So far it's been pretty productive." Extra Life?

Though Ricky Gervais closed the book on Andy Millman and company last Christmas, there's nothing show business loves more than an exciting comeback. And, under the right circumstances, the comedian said he might oblige: "Unlike the English 'Office,' which we definitely killed dead, it's never-say-never with Extras. But we're actually working on a film at the moment, so it certainly won't be for a while ... I'm going to blame it on Steve Merchant [Gervais' comedy partner]. I'm trying to persuade him to do another [Extras] special, but we do like the way we ended it. I don't want to come back for a less-wanted encore." (photo: Jeffrey Ufberg/WireImage.com)

Guitar Heroes

No one should understand that imitation is the highest form flattery more than a folk-parody duo. So, maybe Bret and Jemaine from 'Flight of the Conchords' won't start a cross-continental rumble when they find out that the Jonas Brothers are biting their style. Apparently, the Disney dudes are big fans of 'Flight' — so much so that they're repurposing their own show, JONAS (Junior Operatives Networking As Spies), more in the New Zealand rock stars' style. Except with more spies ... and "promise rings."

What to Expect When She's Expecting

Actress Anne Dudek has managed to juggle her various TV roles ('House,' 'Mad Men') before her pregnancy became noticeable, but her belly will be making an appearance on the next season of 'Big Love.' Luckily being one of Alby's wives gives her the perfect alibi: "...we're going to be filming for a while and I'm starting to get a little bigger now — but all those polygamist women are pregnant all the time anyway!" Battle Scars

Going to war, even when it's pretend, comes with its risks, and David Simon's proxy for First Recon in 'Generation Kill' took its share of lumps. "Certainly, getting in and out of the Humvee, or jumping on top of the turret on top, I definitely got cut up," says Pawel Szajda, who plays Cpl. Walt Hasser in the miniseries. "The worst thing that ever happened came while I was standing up on the turret, driving over stuff 20 miles an hour. You get thrown around quite a bit." Not that he has any illusions about toughing it out on a film set versus taking the beating that his real-life counterpart experienced while invading Iraq. "We're just actors doing it, and these guys were doing it for real, sitting in suits we were sitting in not for a few hours a day, but all day. We'd be laced up in their boots, but they didn't get to take shoes off for a week." (photo: J. Countess/WireImage.com)

Wrangling Cowboys

Make a dress out of paperclips? Get voted off an Island? Kid stuff. HBO's 'Hard Knocks' is the ultimate reality show: training camp with the Dallas Cowboys. Twenty-seven of the 80 players will be cut from the team. Who will survive earthquakes, T.O.'s T-shirts, Tony Romo's arm and rookie hazing? If you don't have confidence, find the door. Thanks, We'll Stick with 1%

Jemaine Clement took a break from folk-parody to play the role of Dr. Ronald Chevalier in Jared Hess's next film 'Gentlemen Broncos' — a new age, sci-fi parody. Clement can currently be seen and heard on the fictional sci-fi author's "web sanctum" where the good doctor invites fans to explore his art, literary achievements and "basic wisdom in all things," including his video on the "art of relaxating." In the dulcet tones of alter-ego Chevalier (author of Cyborg Harpies, Brain Cream, and Brutus & Balzaak), Clement intones: "Together we can breed a colony of new ideas. Let me irrigate your barren earth with fresh cream." (photo: J. Vespa/WireImage.com)

Session Players

For 'Wire' fans unwilling to part with the talents of Wendell Pierce and Clarke Peters (Detectives "Bunk" Moreland and Lester Freamon), show creator David Simon has saved the day, importing both actors into his HBO pilot, 'Treme.' Named after an area in New Orleans, the show follows a group of local musicians as the city tries to rebuild itself. Pierce's character, a talented jazz trombonist, struggles to make ends meet, while Peters plays a chief of the White Feather Nation trying to reconnect the members of his tribe. (photo: Andrew H.
