Sir Mix-A-Lot on Line One

On 'Generation Kill' Kellan Lutz has to deal with the limitations of military gear but in real life, the actor is a gadget freak who can riff on everything from the latest video games to mp3 players to touch-screen phones. In a recent intervew, he reveals the most embarrassing place his cell phone has gone off: "At church during a baptism and at the time my ringer was "I LIKE BIG BUTTS AND I CANNOT LIE!!!" [from Sir Mix-A-Lot's 'Baby Got Back'] The volume was on high and I couldn't get my password to work for the phone for a good 15 seconds to turn the ringer off. Talk about embarrassing!!! Wow that just made me smile again." (photo: Jon Furniss/WireImage.com)

Walliams Gets Frocked Up

It seems 'Little Britain''s David Walliams will put on a dress for the opening of an envelope. The actor who dresses up like a laydee for his roles on the sketch comedy show (coming to HBO this fall), donned a frock in London to celebrate his new children's book, 'The Boy In The Dress.' The "thought provoking" story of a boy whose life changes "dramatically" when he slips into something a little more comfortable will be published in October. (photo: Jon Furniss/WireImage.com)

Broken Record

When George W. Bush leaves the White House at the end of the year, Bill Maher will lose his favorite punching bag — but he can rest assured that the damage is done. "A recent survey of historians found that 98 percent of them thought it was a failed administration," Maher says. "And it's hard to get 98 percent of anybody to agree on anything. And something like 61 percent of those historians thought he might be the worst U.S. president ever. Those are pretty sobering numbers. And well earned, I might add." But Can He Kill in Cyberspace?

The search for a creative director for Funny or Die, the website started by Will Ferrell and Adam McKay, is over. Writer Andrew Steele ('Saturday Night Live') has signed on for the job, which includes overseeing the videos and original programming the site will create in its new deal with HBO. Ferrell had high praise for Steele's pedigree: "He's one of the funniest people on the planet, not counting South America and parts of Russia."

On the Rocks

A bar full of Aussies content with a typical Friday-night boozing caught a bit of a surprise when Chris Rock appeared for an impromptu set. In town for two sold-out shows at the State Theatre, the comedian performed at the pub for about 25 minutes — not bad considering the audience paid only $15, compared to the $120 price his scheduled act is fetching. Breaking Camp

The last thing Alan Ball wanted for 'True Blood' was a buxom Southern belle breathing, "Aw gosh, Mister Vampire, please don't y'all bi-iite me." So, in the process of casting Anna Paquin, he had to turn away a sorority's worth of girls: "A lot of women that read for Sookie tried to play her very skittish or overly Southern. It doesn't work. I knew early on that in order for the series to be as enjoyable and entertaining as the books were, I had to hire actors who could play it straight, not try to make it funny and not try to make it scary. Because that's when things become unintentionally campy. And Anna really pursued this role. I felt she saw it as a chance to reinvent herself." (photo: Jeff Vespa/WireImage.com)

Go Greased Lightnin'

Writer George Pelecanos ('The Wire' and forthcoming 'The Pacific') played 20 questions with popmatters.com and revealed one of his secret talents is driving fast. And the crime scribe can wax poetic about his vehicle of choice: "My current ride is an '08 Mustang, limited edition GT that is faster than a standard GT, primarily because of its cold-air intake. It has extended chrome tips, racing suspension, and a five speed on the floor. When you cook the engine you can feel the rumble of the twin pipes under your seat. You can't get that from a rice burner, no matter how fast. Ford only made 7,000 of this particular car. Mine is #28."
