Busted

Call off the gendarmes, something smells fishy. Sarah Jessica Parker's arrest in Paris for stealing a bottle of her new perfume, 'Covet,' was just part of a new commercial. After swiping a large bouteille of the fragrance from a store display, she runs smack into French police and tries to charm them with her poor French as they whisk her off into the rainy night. Small Talk

Barry Bonds has little to say to Bob Costas these days. In response to the slugger's pursuit of Hank Aaron's home run record (and coincidentally on Bonds' 43rd birthday), 'Costas Now' aired interviews with Curt Schilling and chemist Patrick Arnold (who invented the drug THG, known as "the clear"). Both were critical of Bonds' alleged steroid use, and the imminent record-breaker didn't appreciate their remarks. Rather than blame the interviewees, however, Bonds struck out at Costas: "You mean that little midget man who absolutely knows jack s*** about baseball? Who never played the game? I saw it."

When asked for a response, Costas didn't come up short: "I have no ill feelings toward him personally. I regard him as one of the greatest players of all time who got inauthentic boost and then became a superhuman player. I wish him no ill whatsoever." (photo: Albert Chau/FilmMagic.com)

Role Model

Avon Barksdale may not have seemed so tough to Anwan Glover (Slim Charles), whose gang affiliation started long before he arrived on the set of 'The Wire.' Before breaking into an acting career, Glover ran the Columbia Heights streets of Washington, D.C., eventually finding himself convicted of gun and drug charges. Ronald Moten, founder of the youth organization Peaceaholics, helped change his path, and now Glover wants to do the same for other young men. "[Moten] pulled me off the streets and showed me a whole different world. I want to show them that there's a way," says Glover, who recently joined his mentor in speaking out against drive-by shootings. (photo: Johnny Nunez/WireImage.com)

Big Brother

Breakout projects like 'Entourage' and 'The Departed' have beefed up Mark Wahlberg's already impressive stature, but when it comes to mind-blowing fame, his brother Donnie ('Band of Brothers') has been there and done that. "I was part of a band that was as big as you could possibly get," Donnie says, referring to his days as an '80s sensation in New Kids on the Block. "I know what that level of success is like. It's not really what motivates me. I think Mark has loftier goals than me." (photo: John Sciulli/WireImage.com)

An Apple Martini for the Teacher

Nominated for an Emmy® for her role as schoolteacher Elaine Goodale in HBO's 'Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee,' Anna Paquin is ready to let her hair down on the awards-party circuit. The actress, who won an Academy Award® for her first film, 'The Piano,' told Variety: "I haven't done the whole awards show since I was a baby so I am looking forward to staying out late," she says. "It will be a lot more fun now that I am not 11." (photo: Michael Loccisano/FilmMagic.com)

Revisionist History

What would the real-life Al Swearengen say about Ian McShane's portrayal of him on 'Deadwood'? Probably thank the actor for making him out to be such a nice guy. According to Jerry Bryant, who's contributed research to the show, "I think he was a real vicious bastard. I think he had a heart of stone." The abusive pimp eventually got his comeuppance, though — a new investigation reveals he was murdered outside his home with a blunt object in 1904. (photo: Eamonn McCormack/WireImage.com)

MC Piven in the House

When Fashion Week pitches its tents in New York City this fall, expect to see Jeremy Piven checking out the runways for something to wear. Piven will be hosting the 4th annual Fashion Rocks concert on September 6th at Radio City Music Hall. As Master of Ceremonies, he'll be introducing a range of acts from Jennifer Lopez, Usher and Aerosmith, to Martina McBride and American Idol stars. (photo: Soul Brother/FilmMagic.com)

Waxing Philosophical

Luke Perry has taken a few leaps of faith on screen — slaying vampires, dating Shannon Doherty — and his latest role on 'John From Cincinnati' is no different. In fact, the enigmatic brain child of David Milch may end up prompting a spiritual awaking in Perry, a self-professed non-believer. "Listen, I like to go to work, crash the car, kiss the girl and go home," he says. "And that's what people like to see me do. But this show is keeping me awake at night." Reel Women

Jeanne Tripplehorn recently wrapped a three-day shoot, starring in 'The Trap,' Rita Wilson's directorial debut. The short film is part of Glamour magazine's 'Reel Moments.' After holding a contest to choose several real-life stories from readers, the magazine invites three Hollywood women who have never directed before to choose one of the finalist's stories to turn into a short film. (The other two rookie directors this year are Kate Hudson and Kirsten Dunst.)

Wilson's short is about a woman "getting in touch with who she is." The completed shorts will premiere in LA on October 9th and then be available for download. (photo: Eric Charbonneau/WireImage.com)

Grenier Unplugged

How many actors does it take to unscrew a lightbulb? When Hollywood stars go public with going green, it's usually because they're trying to inspire the rest of us to dim the wattage to save the planet. Or sometimes, they're just trying to do their part. Adrian Grenier, who's been reducing his carbon footprint with the green renovation of his Brooklyn home, says it's just about doing what you can: "You can't do everything all at once. I try and turn off the lights as much as possible. I unplug all of my appliances. Use the eco friendly light bulbs."

Asked whether his life parallels Vince Chase's in terms of women throwing themselves at him, Grenier warns: "Don't try this at home because you will find that I'd say living that much of a superficial consumerist lifestyle, depression will ensue. The problem is it's a half hour show. You don't see the hard work that they have to endure. You only see the crème de la crème." (photo: Jean Baptiste Lacroix/WireImage.com)

Pullo the Punisher

As Titus Pullo, Ray Stevenson wasn't shy when it came to dishing up retribution. Now the Latino Review is reporting that Stevenson will be taking over as the vigilante anti-hero, 'The Punisher,' in the latest sequel to the film version of the Marvel Comic (replacing Thomas Jane). Fans are already puzzling about how Stevenson will take on his mighty nemesis, Jigsaw. (photo:Jeff Kravitz/FilmMagic.com)

Eye of the Tiger

Louis C.K.'s fans aren't the only ones busting a gut. In Montreal for the Just for Laughs festival, the nearly 40-year-old comedian fought his way through a pugilistic program with local trainer Howard Grant. "Despite what people may think, you need to be in shape for comedy, too," C.K. told the Montreal Gazette. "Like boxing, comedy can be exceptionally draining physically. All the same, though, I'd rather take my chances at comedy than boxing." (photo: Jeff Kravitz/FilmMagic.com)

Once Bitten ...

'Entourage' already channeled Suge Knight for Johnny Drama's over-the-balcony negotiation with Saigon's manager, and now the infamous rap mogul has made his second impression on the cast — this time with his teeth.

According to the New York Daily News, Kevin Connolly followed ESPN's ESPY Awards by play-wrestling the former Death Row Records CEO and UNLV lineman, but he left the match with a bitten and bloodied finger. (photo: Theo Wargo/WireImage.com)

Getting Syked

Some people receive champagne or flowers when they get nominated for an Emmy®. Not Wanda Sykes. When her dog woke her up barking at 6 am, she told Variety: "I looked at my Blackberry and the header was 'Get your ass up.'" It was her friend, telling her that Sykes had been tapped for her HBO stand-up special, "Wanda Sykes: Sick and Tired." (photo: Gary Gershoff/WireImage.com)

Odd Jobs

Steve Buscemi didn't take the typical route to an actor's life. Rather than waiting tables while doing way-Off-Broadway shows, he was a firefighter in Little Italy. And if Hollywood hadn't come calling, Buscemi might have ended up running a Jiffy Lube.

Talking to the Sun Times about his new film 'Interview,' (which he directed and stars in with Sienna Miller), he reflected on the 1996 film he wrote and directed, 'Trees Lounge': "It was a very personal story, certainly fictional, but based on things that had happened in my life when I was living on Long Island. I drove an ice cream truck, and I did work in a gas station, and I certainly hung out in bars. [Laughs.] They were sort of grooming me to be a mechanic. I got as far as oil changes, and I said, I don't want to learn anymore. I certainly don't want to do this for a living." (photo: Lester Cohen/Variety via WireImage.com)
