Man from Mars

He played a supporting role in 'Band of Brothers' as Lt. Thomas Meehan, Easy's new C.O. whose plane goes down on D-Day. Now, Jason O'Mara is set to star in David E. Kelley's new adaptation of the U.K. import 'Life on Mars.' According to Variety, he'll play detective Sam Tyler who meets up with a serial killer when he's transported back to the 1970s. The show's director, Thomas Schlamme said: "When I read the script, the bad news was that in order for the project to work, we needed an actor who could play confident yet lost, forceful yet frightened, withdrawn yet available, and uncompromising yet funny. The good news is we got Jason O'Mara." (photo: Albert L. Ortega/WireImage.com)

He Got Game

New Yorkers are more likely to catch Spike Lee courtside at the Garden than taking in a Broadway show, but that's about to change. The acclaimed filmmaker will take the stage next spring to direct 'Stalag 17,' a 1951 story about prisoners of war, but don't expect him to stick to convention. "I just don't want to do the old okey-doke thing, dust off some old piece and make a revival," he told the New York Times. "If I'm going to make this venture, this debut to the stage, I have to try to come up with some things that are going to make it interesting for me."

Besides lacing the script with some authenticity by way of profanity, Lee says he wants to allude to more intimate relationships between the prisoners. Focusing on a multiracial cast, Lee's looking for a star with some wattage but has only mentioned one guideline: "We're not casting rappers; 50 Cent's not going to be in this one." Ashley Jensen Finds A Little Extra Space

No word on how she'll be celebrating Independence Day, but Ashley Jensen has put the final coat of paint on her Hollywood reinvention, buying a $3.5 million house in Leo DiCaprio's neighborhood. Home may be where the heart is, but Jensen's 2,400 square-foot pad hasn't broken her attachment to the U.K. "I've become one of those people who seek Britishness everywhere," she says. "Like the folk that go to Spain and order a full English breakfast. I've got Marmite and marmalade, and I go and buy veggie Cornish pasties." (photo: Marcel Thomas/FilmMagic.com)

She's Gotta Have It

She may be an Oscar®-nominated actress known for serious films, but Laura Linney is not immune to pop culture fever. On a brief hiatus from shooting HBO's upcoming 'John Adams' miniseries, Linney talked to EW.com before taking off for filming in Budapest. The actress has been immersing herself in Abigail Adams reading material. "It's coming out my pores, all this stuff. American history is wasted on high school sophomores. I remembered not a thing," she said. But she admitted: "I watch a lot of TV. I'm an 'American Idol' fanatic. The thing that's been hysterical is I do 'John Adams' all day long, and you go home and you want to watch something that's fun and light. This past year, that's where I've been. Scary but true. 'Dancing With the Stars,' too. I'm thrilled that Apolo Ohno won! Happy, happy, happy. I called in and voted." (photo: Gary Gershoff/WireImage.com)

No More Mr. DustBuster

Bob Saget gets down and dirty

You may know him as "a guy with a DustBuster and bouffant hairdo on maybe the most family-friendly show of all time," as Bob Saget describes himself. But the 'Full House' dad has always been a trash talker in his comedy act. He swears he gets his material from watching his kids — but when he shot his HBO special in New York, he sent his daughters to stay with their grandparents. He reports that his daughters' girlfriends tell them all the guys in school say: "Your dad's the sickest motherf**ker ever." "I'm like 'Oh no, what am I doing?' I don't want to be a dirty bastard, but I want to do what I find funny," he explains. Asked to describe his brand of funny, Saget riffs: "I want to say it's like scat art, but that sounds like explosive diarrhea....It's basically a 9-year-old talking dirty." Stage Flight

Sharon Angela wraps up her run

Sharon Angela (Rosalie Aprile on 'The Sopranos') had plenty to keep her busy when the 'Sopranos' wrapped. The actress just finished starring in two plays, back to back, at Michael Imperioli's theater Studio Dante. This Sunday she finished her run as the trash-talking Stella in 'From Riverdale to Riverhead,' written by Anastasia Traina. Angela had to find her inner girlie-girl for the role. As she explained: "[Stella's] very much hair, nail, boobs. She actually brought out sexuality in me that I kept hidden, because [dressing sexy] is too high maintenance. She's a strong woman who hides her true feelings through being tough. She's very, very sensitive." (photo: Duffy-Marie Arnoult/WireImage.com)
