Big Lovefest

There was lots of love in the house last night when the 'Big Love' cast and crew gathered to celebrate the premiere of season two.

After watching the show at the Cinerama Dome, the audience headed over to LA hot spot Boulevard 3, which was decked out with large "family photos" of the Henrickson clan. Friends of the show, including Shane West and Kerry Washington, joined the cast in the festivities. (photo: Mark Sullivan/WireImage.com)

Bye Bye Bobby

If you're a 'Sopranos' cast member and David Chase invites himself over for coffee and a chat, no fancy Danish is going to save you. Steve Schirripa, who had been hoping that Bobby Bacala would make it to the finale, explains how it went down. As he told the NY Post, Chase was sitting at his kitchen table when he finally said: " 'I guess you know why I'm here.' It was like a friggin' hit." Still, Schirripa felt lucky in the end, referring to his hobby shop exeunt: "I couldn't have asked for a better scene. It was the first time I ever died on camera and that was a new experience for me." (photo: Jemal Countess/WireImage.com)

Miracle Maker

Spike Lee has a lot of travel in his future. Accepting a Peabody Award this week for his direction of 'When the Levees Broke: A Requiem in Four Acts' he vowed he'd be returning to New Orleans for a follow up. "The story is not over," he said. "It's still something that's evolving and we want to keep on top of it."

In the meantime, he'll be heading to Italy to direct a film based on James McBride's novel 'Miracle at St. Anna,' about African-American soldiers who fought in World War II. "I recently met a black veteran who fought at Iwo Jima and he told me how hurt he was that he could not find a single African-American in Clint Eastwood's two films," Lee said. Dialectician

As the neglected wife in John Boorman's new film 'The Tiger's Tale,' Kim Cattrall is a far cry from man-hungry Samantha Jones. But it wasn't easy getting the accent right, according to the actress. "Before I came to shoot in Ireland I had gone to a dialect coach in the States and it did not go well. I had more of an idea of an Irish accent than an Irish accent itself. So John said they had a dialect coach on the set and he was wonderful. ...The Irish accent is so difficult to get so specifically right because if you go five kilometres down the road and the accent changes at the bend." Surf Reality

There will be no "I hung ten on a hot curl, dude," on 'John from Cinncinnatti.' The creative team has lined up plenty of surfing experts to assure that the authenticity of the sport will be protected on the show. First, there's co-creator Kem Nunn, surf noir author of 'Tapping the Source,' 'Dogs of Winter' and 'Tijuana Straights.' Then there's the pro surfing stand-ins, including Dan Malloy, Shane Beschen, Keala Kennelly (who also stars as Kai on the show) and John John Florence. And Steve Hawk, former editor of Surfer magazine has joined the writing team. "Nobody says cowabunga," Nunn says. "The surf talk is authentic. I can guarantee you that." Law Man

As Billy Chenowith he had his ups and downs on 'Six Feet Under,' but Jeremy Sisto is settling in — joining the 'Law & Order' team. He will put on the badge as one of two new detectives expected to report for duty next season. Apparently the franchise czar has had his eye on Sisto: "I've watched Jeremy's career evolve and grow, and I am absolutely thrilled that he has decided to join 'Law & Order,'" said Dick Wolf. Father Forgive Him...

Tony Sirico claims he talks to God every day — the question is, how many f-bombs he uses in the exchange. "If you've played Paulie Walnuts enough, you'd understand,'' Tony Sirico told the Kalamazoo Gazette. "If Paulie can't curse, he can't talk.'' Still, that doesn't keep Father Robert Sirico of St. Mary Church in Kalamazoo (Tony's baby brother) from trying to get him to watch his mouth.

Robert says big brother Tony plays Paulie pretty close to home: "What you see on television is pretty close to the real thing. We're happy he's made it big. I don't anticipate he'll be doing Shakespeare anytime soon, but he found this niche as this tough-guy character. You can't help but be proud of that achievement.'' (photo: Bobby Bank/WireImage.com)

Animal Lovers

Love always find you when you least expect it. Like at your annual "Come As Your Favorite Animal Party." This is what happens in 'Eagle vs. Shark,' a new film featuring Jemaine Clement of 'Flight of the Conchords.' The film, written and directed by Taika Waititi, Clement's former comedy partner in "Humourbeast," is playing at the Newport International Film festival this week (June 8th and 9th) and New Yorkers and Angelenos can vie for free tickets to screenings on June 12-14th. It opens in theaters June 15th. (photo: Jeff Vespa/WireImage.com)

Hometown Heroine

Molly Parker's role as former New York socialite Alma Garret on 'Deadwood' forces her to fend for herself in the Wild West, but the actress's real-life roots — staffing her parents' fish store in rural Canada — hardly classify as highfalutin. "There were maybe five girls in my class all the way through," Parker told her hometown paper. "We dirt biked, played in the hay barn. I loved when I was young and we lived in Pitt Meadows."

As teachers will, Parker's high school drama instructor Shelley Evans posited her own theory on her former pupil's success: "It has to do with self esteem and self assuredness ... Sometimes students have all the talent in the world, but they don't have the sense of purpose to follow through." (photo: Alexandra Wyman/WireImage.com)

Joining the NFL?

Not even the presence of a top trainer could keep Tony's team from getting slaughtered on Sunday night. Despite the bloodbath, New York Jets coach Eric Mangini had a grand old time with his walk-on 'Sopranos' spot, eating dinner at Vesuvio's with his wife, Julie. "It took me a long time to get into character," says Mangini. "Playing me eating dinner is a real stretch, but I worked with an acting coach and I think I really nailed it." Oy, Surf's Up!

"What could be more natural than Jews and surfing," HBO Entertainment President Carolyn Strauss cracked before introducing 'John from Cincinnati's' proudly Jewish creator (and 'Deadwood' vet) David Milch at the show's LA premiere. At the party, the Buzz spotted 'Sex and the City' alum Willie Garson (who plays a Jewish attorney and devout surfer in the series) catching up with Kristin Davis and swapping notes with 'Entourage''s Perrey Reeves. 'Deadwood' alum Paula Malcomoson visited with Jennifer Grey, as series stars Rebecca DeMornay, Luke Perry, Ed O'Neill, Brian Van Holt and 'John' himself — Austin Nichols — milled around a giant bonfire on a makeshift beach set (complete with floating surf boards). Joining them were several residents of Imperial Beach, the California border town where 'Cincinnati' is set, a few of whom have become part of the cast. (photo: Jeff Kravitz/FilmMagic.com)

Lip Smackers

Sacha Baron Cohen and Will Ferrell made out at the MTV Movie Awards on Sunday night — literally. When presented with the award for Best Kiss for 'Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby,' Baron Cohen tackled Ferrell in a lip lock that ended in the pair rolling around on the floor. Cohen returned to the podium for the award for Best Comedic Performance for 'Borat.' (photo: Kevin Mazur/WireImage.com)

Ex-Woman

Breaking A.J. Soprano's heart won't be the last battle against crime for Dania Ramirez, who portrayed the moping mob son's ex-fiancée on the HBO series. Recently added to the cast of NBC's hit 'Heroes,' Ramirez will play Maya, one of a handful of new characters with mysterious genetic gifts. Wielding superpowers should feel totally natural for the Dominican-Republic-born actress, who lent her inhuman speed to the forces of evil as Callisto in 'X-Men: The Last Stand.' Brain v. Braun

There comes a time in a successful actress's career when you have to make a choice: your body or your life. For Laura Linney (HBO's upcoming 'John Adams') it was a no-brainer. "Oh yeah! I could have gone to the gym for three hours a day and bought into all that, but I just wasn't interested. You know, I think if you have based your career on a purely sexual appeal then your body can become a real issue for you. You are putting a lot of stock into your body and it's just sort of limiting."

Not that Linney's short on sex appeal, but opting for interesting indie roles over Hollywood sex goddesses has made her happy — as the actress told the Daily Mail in a relaxed interview from her off-duty home in Telluride, Colorado. "This is a very, very good time in my life. I have done some really exciting work in the past year, I have a wonderful relationship and I have a feeling that I will look back on this time and feel very good about it." (photo: Jason Merritt/

Three Times a Lady

Besides offering full-time work and facilitating Bill Paxton's directorial efforts (he's trying to rope in an urban western at the moment), 'Big Love' has presented the actor an opportunity to fulfill a different kind of fantasy: "Having three wives wasn't bad for my virility factor," he told MovieHole.net. "Let me rephrase that — having three sirens to chase around is pretty great. I always kind of thought I could do some romantic stuff, and in this it's like I won a triple bet." Wilder Days

She may have torn up the town with her girlfriends on 'Sex and the City,' but Cynthia Nixon has seen Wilder days — in Grover's Corner. The actress can be heard talking about these experiences this summer on PBS in a documentary about Thornton Wilder's play 'Our Town.' Nixon was one of many stars (including Paul Newman, Frances Conroy and Eric Stoltz) interviewed about their experiences acting in the Pulitzer Prize winning classic.
