British screenwriter Gwyneth Hughes received BAFTA TV Award nominations for HBO’s miniseries “Five Days” and for the documentary miniseries “Manhunt: The Search for the Yorkshire Ripper,” which she also directed. A graduate in Russian Studies, Hughes began work as a newspaper reporter before moving into a distinguished career as a director of TV documentaries, and then into drama. Her recent writing credits include HBO’s miniseries “Five Days” and the biopic “Miss Austen Regrets,” which earned her a British Writers’ Guild award. Most recently, Hughes tackled “The Mystery of Edwin Drood,” the adaptation of Charles Dickens’ unfinished final novel, giving the story her own ending.
