Robert Polito's most recent books are the poetry collection HOLLYWOOD & GOD and FARBER ON FILM: THE COMPLETE FILM WRITINGS OF MANNY FARBER. He received the National Book Critics Circle Award for SAVAGE ART: A BIOGRAPHY OF JIM THOMPSON. His writing appears regularly in BOOKFORUM and ARTFORUM, and he interviewed Todd Haynes for THE BELIEVER in the March/April 2008 annual film issue. He edited the Everyman James M. Cain anthology, as well as CRIME NOVELS: AMERICAN NOIR OF THE 1930s and 1940s for the Library of America. A poet, biographer, and essayist, he directs the Graduate Writing Program at The New School in New York City.
