Kim asks Tina if she can talk to Mike about giving Louie a raise at the muffler shop...and just like that, he gets one. Quite proud of himself, Louie can't wait to tell his wife, but she beats him to the punch. He's ticked, so he confronts Mike about the raise, still hoping he earned it somehow. Mike confirms that Kim is not only responsible for his raise, but also the reason he got hired, "Kim told Tina you needed the work." Fully indignant, Louie quits, telling Mike, "I don't need your charity."
Hearing the news that Louie quit "all by himself, Kim realizes that she got to pursue something she loves, so she encourages Louie to go after a career dream. He remembers that he wanted to be a pilot once, so Kim encourages him to study for his pilot's license. But learning about vectors and altitudes proves more challenging than he thought, and when Kim comes home to find him "studying" with Rich and his super bong, she tells him about a more attainable position as an assistant manager job at Muffler City.
Louie gets the bigger muffler job, but he hates it the mechanics don't like him and the customers "think they're at a day spa." "I was happy before, hanging out with Mike and fixing the occasional muffler...or not." He decides to beg for his old job back. Then he stops himself, turning to Kim. "I'll call Tina," she says.
