After a long day at work, Kim comes home to Louie asking if he can go to the women's college basketball finals with Mike and Rich. She's indifferent, until Lucy throws up. When Louie makes it clear he still wants to go, Kim tells him to make a decision and live with it. He does, he goes, and Kim is pissed.
The guys celebrate the Lady Bulldogs' victory, then drive home drunk with Mike behind the wheel. Mike narrowly misses an accident, so Louie tries to trade places with him and the two get stuck on top of each other just as the cops pull them over... serving them both with DUIs and taking them in to the drunk tank. Louie calls Kim "just to apologize for going to the game." Really, he needs her to come get him because he's in a place "where you have to give them... bail to get out." Kim decides to let him spend the night there.
As part of their sentence, Mike and Louie head to AA, but have little patience for all the 'sharing,' insisting they are not alcoholics. "How has drinking made your life so great?" the moderator asks Mike. "Drinking is fun," Mike concludes, before offering to buy everyone a round. Louie is more contemplative. "You guys made a lot of bad decisions because you were drunk... I wish alcohol was my problem. I'm just a f**king asshole." This prompts some of the other members to realize they're f**king assholes too, and not just when they were drinking.
Back at home, Louie tells Kim he wants her to make 'adult' decisions for him, admitting he makes terrible ones on his own. Kim reminds him of a mistake Lucy made, and how she learned from it. "You are 37, so you're starting a little bit late... but you'll be fine."
